In the event of a water landing, Lion Air Group cabin crew members are prepared to provide passenger care and safety. These dedicated professionals undergo rigorous training to ensure they are equipped to handle any emergency situation, including water evacuations. This commitment to safety underscores Lion Air Group's dedication to passenger well-being.
Training for Every Scenario
During a recent visit to the Lion Group Training Center (LGTC) in Balaraja, Tangerang, we witnessed a water evacuation drill that showcased the rigorous training cabin crew members undertake. Guided by experienced instructors, the crew participated in a simulated rescue scenario, demonstrating their preparedness for a water landing.
The drill involved a series of steps, starting with a warm-up session to prepare for the physical demands of the training. The crew then set up canopies on inflatable evacuation rafts, a vital part of the safety equipment. These canopies, designed for nighttime evacuations, provide passengers with protection from cold winds, ensuring their comfort during a potentially stressful situation.
Each aircraft in the Lion Air Group fleet is equipped with inflatable evacuation rafts, capable of accommodating dozens of passengers. After setting up the rafts, cabin crew members donned life vests and participated in a simulated water landing, jumping into a pool from a Boeing 737 mockup. The training involved various scenarios, such as boarding and disembarking the evacuation raft and responding to potential dangers like shark encounters. This comprehensive training provides the crew with practical experience in navigating a water landing and ensures their ability to effectively assist passengers in an emergency.
This water evacuation training is not a one-time event. It is a mandatory requirement for all Lion Group cabin crew, conducted every 12 months to ensure they remain proficient in evacuation procedures. This ongoing training reinforces their knowledge and skills, ensuring they are prepared to act swiftly and efficiently in the event of an emergency.
“Through comprehensive training, Lion Air Group guarantees that every flight attendant is ready to provide exceptional service with all their heart,” said Danang Mandala Prihantoro, Corporate Communications Strategic Lion Group. This statement emphasizes the company's commitment to providing passengers with not only safe but also comfortable and attentive service.
Chreisna Bayu, a new cabin crew member, expressed his understanding of the immense responsibility held by flight crews. “The more we learn about safety, the more we feel fear, but also the safer we become. The knowledge we gain here is practiced and applicable,” he shared during an interview. His words highlight the seriousness with which cabin crew members take their safety responsibilities and the dedication they have to ensuring passenger safety.
The water evacuation training conducted by Lion Air Group is a testament to the company's commitment to safety and passenger well-being. By providing their cabin crew with comprehensive training, Lion Air Group ensures that passengers are in the best possible hands in the event of an emergency. This unwavering dedication to safety is a cornerstone of Lion Air Group's operational philosophy, ensuring that passengers can travel with confidence and peace of mind.
